SFWeekly lists our St. Pat's show!

 St. Steampunk's Day

The more European version of U.S. brodown party-hearty holiday behavior is brass-band "gypsy" culture. Encouraged binge drinking, shouting men dancing, and loud music is what St. Patrick's Day is all about, right? So Vagabondage brings all this together. Singing to us from inside an inebriated accordion, the duo slurs sea chanties, murder ballads, and, well, to be honest, drinking songs. Grand plonking waltzes, jaunty reels, and scorching torch complaints have everyone swaying along and madly toasting to whatever. T&A and the Sweet Trade join them. At the Beale Street Bar in SF.

Music Monday: The sweet drinking songs of Vagabondage

With a name like Vagabondage, the duo of John Flaw and Emchy warrant at the very least a cursory listen. And if you're a fan of Americana roots and bluesy, whiskey soaked vocals then their self described catalog of "pirate shanties, murder ballads and carnivale vaudevillia" are just what the bartender ordered.

On their 2009 debut album "Songs from the Bottom of an Empty Glass" the combination of vocals, accordion, guitar and kazoo weaves together a tapestry of moody drinking songs, midnight ruminations and lovelorn revelry. As a whole, the album is the perfect soundtrack for a night of Jack Daniels inspired contemplation.

On the single "Second Heart," Flaw's vocals channel a slightly less smoky Tom Waits as his guitar drags behind Emchy's accordion with a melancholy stumble, like a lovelorn, punch drunk Django Reinhardt.

Team Vagabondage keeps a full dancecard of Bay Area shows, having just wrapped up gigs at Witches Brew at the Stud and the Wonderland at the DNA Lounge. On February 11, they'll be providing the soundtrack for the Hubba Hubba Review's Beerlesque at the Paradise Lounge and playing with Alan Black and Harmon Leon at the KnockOut on February 26.

To keep tabs on the busy bondage duo, check out the Vagabondage website and Facebook page. And you can download Songs From the Bottom of an Empty Glass from Reverb Nation.

Vagabondage mentioned on SFGate.com

Vagabondage - Bottom of an Empty Glass

Vagabondage, currently the greatest acoustic duo in San Francisco, finally went and got properly recorded.

I had them live on my radio show about a year ago and they brought tears to my eyes as John Flaw belted out his wonderful vocals. Emchy sings backup and plays accordion.

After that show, I was literally mad at them, because nothing they recorded sounded like them live.

Leave it to Jim Fourniadis to do them justice. He recorded and produced their release, Bottom of an Empty Glass at The Dark Room.

Listen to the full release at Last.fm.

Enjoy them live at The Knockout on February 26th @ 7 p.m. They'll perform a few numbers as a part of my live music and literary talk show, Drinks with Tony.

Shadow Circus Creature Theatre, San Francisco 's most belligerent
puppetry troupe is returning once more to the Climate Theater,
bringing you a cornucopia of Holiday mayhem. Shadow Circus uses

social satire.

Accompanying them are musical group Vagabondage, stand-up
comedienne Lady Satan and escape artist Miss Bella Trixx.

The entire evening is hosted by Shadow Circus Creature Theatre; the
most foul-mouthed, blasphemous, belligerent puppets to ever slither
across a stage!
